Tray Play

Looking to add volume to a room, looking for impact in a small yet stylish way? It's as simple as a tray full of design possibilities.  Placed in the right area,  a tray can help to add height, texture as well as splashes of colour. As a foundation for great accessories, they work well for creating little stories throughout the home. Trays also make for some great DIY ideas and are great for re-purposing old materials.

pretty clear trays on top of simple coffee table jazz it up....MadeByGirl: Renting: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Separate and Create - The tray defines items within its space. This allows for you to create a short visual story or just pages of one.

Decorative trays made with material and cookie sheets...watch video...Rebecca painted an old army cot and placed four trays on top to make a great custom coffee table...

Re-purpose and give New Life- These were once baking cookie sheets, now they are a tray chic addition to this living room.

Colour Reflected - Warmth is added to this already charmed collection of accessories with this rustic green tray. Love how the colour is reflected in the near by floral arrangement. Such a perfect match for small items, big impact.

DIY- These fun designs are only the beginning of just where you could take your tray creations! Here is where you can be bold, remember they are light and easy to move around within your space, so you can change and rearrange them as often as you like.

Its been Tray chic sharing with you!
Happy Tuesday!!

Moodboard Monday ( Olioboard Blog Hop #3 )

As a mother myself, I was thrilled to hear of this months blog hop topic, Mom Spots. I loved the idea of creating a place for mothers to escape and call their own. With a million and one things constantly on the go, relaxation often takes a back seat in our lives. However without well spent moments of rejuvenation we wind up giving only second best to the ones that need us most.

I have created my boards around the Spa escape. A trip to the spa can not only be a costly venture but also requires alloted time, which can some times be hard to come by with multi-tasking lives. This fact, is what inspired me to create the Spa Serenity. The at home spa where a nightly escapes become the best part of the day.

I started my creations by putting together an inspiration board. On this board I was able to quickly select items that remind me of all the things that capture the essences of a relaxing spa setting.

Inspirational Board ( Spa Serenity )

I find undeniable calm from the colour green. Full of notes of nature, freshness and new beginnings, a soft, muted shade of green, is spa perfect. Coupled with crisp white, the welcome of renewed energy is evident. For warmth, I took the look of sand and stones and worked their textures and colours them throughout my boards to allow for a soft welcoming finish.

Materials and Finishes Boards ( Spa Serenity )

Here is where you can start to see your inspirations come to life. Using my inspirational  image selection, I can begin showcasing just their shapes, colours and textures and how to use them to create truly relaxing vibe.

3d Visualisation Board ( Spa Serenity )

Relax, Renew, Refresh, are words to live by when creating the perfect space for unwinding. In  keeping with the flow of relaxation, remember to bring in a little scented candle light. Scent is a great way help put you in a zone of pure tranquillity. Alo be generous with your towel selection on go for the super soft white look and feel, for wrapping your rejuvenated body.

Its all in the Details ( Spa Serenity )

Now that you have spent time at the Spa via my boards, please join the other 12 Bloggers on board and see just where their Mom spot will take you.

Creative Soul Friday ( Evening Post )

So I just had to share these Moroccan inspired mason jars. They are a true representation of the words "its all in the details." Such fine, curvy lines interlocking to create an overall look of intricate beauty. They are every bit reminiscent to  the henna patterned hands I had seen so many times before, yet the look is all so fresh on the eyes with these jars. What a great why to bring on a little Morocco to your home or patio!

Creative Soul Friday

Hello Everyone!
Thank you for joining me for my second Creative Soul Friday. Today I want to showcase two of my favorite and ever so fun fall trends. The creative minds of some of  fashion's best designers are bringing to the coming fall season a little something all women love - Jewelry and jewel tones hits to the runway, in a BIG way. Its an inspiring look at what happens when we look back to that old jewelry box and react creatively.

Big Beautiful Buttons- These "bedazzled beauties are making waves on the runway this fall. They are far from the way use to know them. More bold and popping up in some of the most unexpected places.  I love what these oversize buttons and what this could mean for the interior design world. I could so see this look played up on furniture, in hardware- knobs, imagine them paired up with a super contemporary piece, it would be just that bit of unexpected touch, always a hit for me in design.

The Bug Come Back

This may be one of the only places you will most likely see me playing with bugs. I think they are such a fun addition to an outfit. Its all about scale, and they are over the top in size this season. I am loving the fun placement of a  pair of these jeweled insects on these Jason Wu heels.

Hope you are inspire by a little of nature seen through Jewelry and all the big bold buttons!

Enjoy your Friday!

Eclectic Pattern Play

Endless visual interest, is exactly whats served up in a space of full of pattern and colour play. Its as though you are surrounded by great conversation and your listening to all the juicy details. The use of multiple patterns and colour, allows for the unexpected in design, which is exactly why I love eclectic spaces. They bring forth creativity in ways that may not otherwise be seen. Its a celebration of all styles in decor.

Bold Allure -  From ceiling to floor this living room is the face of bold design. The dramatic patterned ceiling is perfectly matched to a curvy black and white rug which speaks so well to the black and white pillows.

Pinned Image

Cool, Clam, and Eclectic - Love the breezy feel of  this beautiful rug, such a great compliment to the glass coffee table - a sea of eclectic goodness.

Pinned Image

Black to Light - A hint of pink, black and white, always a good thing. These ever strong striped drapes are all the glamour of the room, but its the quiet prints on the pillows that give the look its delicate delight.

Fresh Cut

There is nothing I like more than seeing fresh cut flowers when I walk into a home. They always feel so very welcoming, not to mention, they smell pretty good too. Now, I'm not completely against a great faux arrangement of flowers, however its pretty hard to beat what nature offers up to us. To get the best out of your fresh flowers, learn more about them from your florist and give them the care they require. With proper care your flowers will last longer and you continued to give your home that added touch of soft, natural beauty.

Pinned Image

Vase Selection- The type of vase you select for your arrangements can help to determinate the look and feel you want to achieve. Theses blue and green toned vases along side these white stones, give off an easy very natural vibe. It feels a bit like your still sitting out your garden.

Pinned Image

Location- The placement of your flowers is key in showcasing the shapes, height, and fullness of each flower in the vase. I love the way two different sized vases are being used in this washroom. The asymmetrical look works so well in front of the balanced sconces and mirror.

Pinned Image

Book and Flower Look- Using books to raise the height of  your vase works well in two ways-The books are most likely something you already have around the house, so its an easy decorating solution. Books also add visual interest through colour, thickness, and those always fun to read book titles.
Pinned Image

Perfectly Paired- The items which you place beside your flowers can play a huge role in the overall feel of your floral design. Try using items that have some of the same colours of your flowers and or vase. Think of it as if you are creating a short story, its important to keep in mind all the small details and the mood of the tale begin told. As in this case,  these jade coloured blows bring out the green of the stems in the clear glass vase. They sit perfectly on top of the book with a pretty cover and the title Extreme Beauty, how fitting for these gorgeous peonies.

Hope I was able to brighten up your day with talks of one of things I love most!

Lets make it great week readers!!

Black,White, Elegance

Whenever I think of timeless elegance in design I often see it in "black and white"  It is one of my favourite combos, both in interior and fashion design. Make no mistake though,  I am a girl full of colourful eyes, however my head always seems to turn at a well designed black and white number. These looks offer up touches of drama and are great for making a bold design statement. Another thing I love to see is, the introduction of just the right shade of  red or pink added to let in a little play of colour.

A couple of days ago I showed you some great ways Christin Dior was using the black and white combo to just light up the runways for their resort 2013 collection. Today I wanted to show you just how well the look works when brought into the home. These photos beautifully capture all the elements I love!

I will make a selection of some of my favourite design pieces and ideas that I come across durning the course of my week. I will then share them with you in hopes you will be inspired  in much the same way I have been.

So for my first Creative Soul Friday I' m sharing some fun Stoargae DIY ideas.

The round Space Saver- Love all the different sizes and how this look could also work has a great display shelf.

Pinned Image

Keep it simple, keep it natural- I think this is one I may have to try real soon!

Pinned Image

Crates, boxes, bins, take to the wall!- Another creative way to re-purpose with style.

Pinned Image

No wine here, just a real fun storage solution- An old wine rack and some large cups. Let your markers, pens, and small tools find a new home!

Pinned Image

Give Vintage New beginnings.- It may just be time to pull out that old suitcase that's been collecting dust in the attic, brush it off and give it that diy magic.

A diy storage solution can be a really great way to bring your creative side out without spending a ton. Its also a great time to take a look around at items that may have lost their appeal and give them new life!

Heres to the DIYer in you!

Dior Dreaming

Much like a dream full of the most beautiful colours, shapes and textures, so is the Christian Dior resort 2013 collection. I'm most moved by the unique cuts in styles paired with just the right fabrics and patterns. This collection has truly awoken my creative soul as I begin to think of the translation from the runway into our interiors, imagine the possibilities!

Black and White Perfection

I love the use of black and white just about anywhere. Maybe its the classic note that it evokes or its strong beauty. With Dior it's easy to see the execution of
well thought out ways to bring black and white together seamlessly.

 Brights of Beauty

Effortlessly these looks of colour make a bold statement. With such an array of design selection Dior's Resort 2013 absolutely a joy to look at. When I see these colours I feel a sense of jubilee, they hint that great things are on the way in the world of design!
