Creative Soul Friday ( Eclectic Joy )

Whenever I am asked the question, "how would you define your design style" I like to answer by saying, " I like a bit of everything". Although when I come to think of it that is not completely truth. There are some styles that will never really have me in love. I like to think of it this way , I know what I love and always open to loving something new. As time moves on so do we, and I see my style as one that will always be evolving while holding on to some of the unchangeable strings of my soul. With this all being said I find myself most drawn to eclectic spaces. For me an eclectically styled space gives the opportunity of soaking up a little bit of the best in all design styles. Eclectic environments are the poets of the design world, connecting each piece and element to a  different time and place in time under one roof. So here's to the creative soul that lives on eclectic grounds!

Dorm Decor ( Moodboard Monday )

What an exiting time of the year! Back to school and off to the life of fun, study and a whole lot of late night. I say this with a smile knowing all too well what its like to in the College zone, only this time I was there as student and while being a Mommy to my seven year old daughter. Being a recent college grad I remember so very well all the things I needed to make the time spent in my workspace inspiring as well as functional. I lived only minutes away from my college so of course my living conditions were at home. I did have a some friends staying on campus however, and we were always talking decor, naturally. More than anything for wishing for their dorm rooms to be more stylish, welcoming and the need for colour and storage. Today I want to take you on the "board tour", working from concept, to a 3d and realistic creation of this eclectic dorm room.

Let your inspiration come from the life you live. Your dorm room is an extension of your personality. Take  YOU into your space and remind yourself you are so much more than just a student by day and a study bunny by night.

Must have for a great dorm room living:

1. Comfy Bedding- While the word sleep may be hard to come by with late night studies and projects,  its extremely important. So the time you do get to put in some Zzz, do it in comfort and style.

2. A Great Desk- Homework and projects are hard enough, make life easier and select a desk with a wide work surface and easy cleaning for those times when a mess comes with the project.

3. The Perfect Chair: More than likely you will be using this chair for more than just study time. Think comfort,  remember sometimes it's hours before you even get up from one.

4. The Power of words: I love the idea of using framed prints with words. Words used in this manner can play such a positive roll in our daily lives as they act as reminders of so many things we often forget in the course of our busy days.

5. Storage, Selection: Just when you think you have enough, you realize you're once again in need of more. This is when I like to think boxes are a great fit. They come in so many varieties of patterns and sizes, it's easy to select ones that will coordinate with your existing decor. Also they store well under the bed or on the floor.

The best thing about the college life is getting to know yourself even more. Through your learning and social experiences you begin to own the things that make you unique. That's why I think a dorm room is such a great place to start to show your decor style and best of all your overall character .

The Powerhouse Combo ( Black and White ) Part 2

For any style you may just want to try,  a little decor fun without the commitment, accessories are a great way to go. They are often small and light weight, this of course a good thing, they are super easy for replacement or relocation.

The Powerhouse Combo ( Black and White )

When I look at where my evolving style has taken me, I begin to see all the things that remain and those that have found new appeal. For me one of the things that has not changed and one I just can't see ever doing so, is my love of the combo, Black and White. I have, and will again share with you just how very impactful the pairr really are,  in both fashion and in interior spaces. The beauty behind black and white is, it can be kept classic, or ultra contemporary. Add a splash of colour and create eye popping design desires.

Creative Soul Fridays ( Branching Out )

Sometimes the best things in life truly are free. Tree branches can be found just about anywhere, yet have the power to create some of the most unique looks within a space. Whether they are displayed in their most natural state or decorated to create a desired look, the feel is always so organic. I have seen branches used in some really fun ways and I could not help but to add these looks to the list of creative soul accomplishments by designers seeing beyond the natural.



Branches of Drama- I mean really, how great is this look! Thick white branches against this bright red and the fun rug below, just incredible!



Commanding Presence- These perfectly positioned branches take center stage, giving the room even more height and an airy feel. Absolute visual delight!





Branch Hangings- Little cards filled with words held by clothes pins or strings, give this display of branch use endless creative purpose. The look could easily be pulled off with small photos or whatever else comes to mind.



Branching Side Table- So I just love this! This states an all new meaning to the words "bringing the outdoors in". These tall beauties of nature are the perfect match to the rug and head board.

Falling for Dior

What can I say, Dior does it to me every time. Once again bringing elegance that  meets the fashion lovers heart with the gentle of touch. It is the combination of soft paired with structured cuts I find so design perfect.











With a season of so many design takes, I am all over the these looks from Dior. I could see any these styles being re-worked,  and added to a few more fall seasons aheads. In other words, major keepers.

Sunshine and Rain

Ever been out in the rain and able to catch the view of the sun trying to makes it way through all the dark clouds and rain? Well lucky for me, yesterday I able to capture such a vision. It is truly a beautiful thing to see. I was quickly reminded of the ups and downs in life. One minute it seems like we can't see our way around in the world,  then suddenly a ray of hope finds in way into your life and changes everything.




Sunshine and Rain, is what I like to call the colour combo of Yellowand Grey. With the brights of the yellow against the muted tones of grey this combo is is full of design impact.

Again I can`t say it enough, some things will always be lovely. They may change slightly over time in celebration of evolving styles.With all of its warm charm neutrals begin to do just that. Home- in the Office

Like many of you, I too function from my home office. It has been a work in progress for a few weeks now. I am working on creating a multi functional space to over all the different areas of business I have ventured into lately. For me an office should not only be functional but should be as well styled as any other room in the house. After all, its the one place where you require all the inspiration that your surroundings can offer. When you are surrounded by that which you love and wish to become, our goals and dreams stay that much closer to your heart.
